As part of our journey to enable the lights out wireless lab, Acentury released LAMTA lab orchestration software v23.3, a platform that uses zero-touch automation to enable rapid testing and lab management for next-gen wireless networks. This is Acentury’s third major software release of 2023 and introduces several new features and capabilities:

  • Android UE control: control multiple Android smartphones directly with the LAMTA UI
  • Support for MiniCircuits and HJ Technologies attenuation arrays and matrices
  • Additional compact attenuator hardware support for 4-, 6-, 8- and 16- channels
  • Updated main menu structure
  • Improved UI and navigation

What’s New in v23.3?

Faster and Simpler Android UE Control

This new optional feature allows a LAMTA user to control Android user equipment (UE) via screen mirroring from the LAMTA UI. A LAMTA user can simultaneously watch UE performance while handovers / roaming are in progress. LAMTA supports many UE simultaneously, and all UE Resources are available to be shared by any LAMTA User. UEs can also be assigned to specific users to avoid testing interruptions.

Android UEs connect directly to the LAMTA Server via USB cable. This eliminates the need for a dedicated host PC for every UE and there is no need for Remote Desktop software to access the host PC / UE. Finally, UE testing made simple!

If the distance between the LAMTA server and test stations is greater than a USB connection can support, a LAMTA Ethernet gateway can be added near the test station, eliminating the need for individual PCs for each Android UE. Screenshot 2023-12-14 085649.png

Support for Mini-Circuits and HJ Technologies

LAMTA v23.3. now supports even more attenuation equipment from other suppliers. Mini-Circuits attenuation arrays and RF switches are now supported, as well as HJ Technologies Radio Rack series attenuation arrays and matrices.

Improvements to Existing Features

Updated Menu structure: main menu re-organized into sections by feature area; each section can be expanded and minimized.

Improved navigation: right-click on objects in the Dashboard to edit/control them.

Dashboard filtering: Users only see the Resources they have been assigned. Lab Admin can choose which view to see (all or User-specific).

Core LAMTA Features

RF signal distribution and attenuation control: make RF connections once and control signal routing and levels through LAMTA software.
Multi-vendor attenuator support: Connect and manage RF switches matrices and attenuators from a variety of supported vendors.
Multi-user support: Effectively share lab resources among multiple testers to avoid test interruptions.
Remote lab access: Setup and execute tests from anywhere over a secure browser session.
Suitable for 3G/4G/5G/Wi-Fi: Use for any wireless testing independent of air interface and frequency band.
RF Monitor (optional): scan for and identify sources of RF interference in the lab before they disrupt testing.
Advanced Mobility (optional): Automate and repeat complex Handover and Roaming tests with MIMO and Carrier Aggregation.
